Looking back on my first years results, context of practice is what I received the lowest grade in out of all of my projects. Due to this, I feel that in the second year, I need to identify the weak points and try my best to improve upon them to keep all areas of my work as consistent as possible. It occurred to me that by singling out the problems now, I can get a head start on the next year of university and go into my context of practice with more of a plan and structure instead of being totally unprepared. I feel that the theory, principles and history side of graphic design was definitely the most challenging part about my last year of studies however, I know that it is the most crucial in order to grasp a better understanding of the creative field.
I have personally never been a big reader however, I believe that making more frequent visits to the library and attempting to read as many textbooks as possible during my studies will be crucial in not only my development as a designer, but also my professional development with artistic language, principles and essay writing. The only way to really expand upon what your writing about in essays is to explore new vocabulary and to solidify my understanding of principles using various authors understandings of them. I believe that moving forward, reading will be imperative to my context of practice module and also my final dissertation.
