OUGD501 - Lecture - The Flipped Classroom

The flipped classroom is the concept that teaching is student centred and taught rather than being a traditional model of education which is teacher based. This is a collective and explorative way of working that uses no hierarchy. This idea was first brought up in the 60's along with hippie ideologies of flower power and the idea that love and sexuality can bring the world together. The University 'Universite Paris8' was given to protesting students after the riots of 68, this establishment still runs today developing many of the radical theorists we have now in the 21st century.

Jacques Ranciere - French Theorist b.1940 - Was one of the students at a university in 1968 who protested alongside this movement.

Interesting books to read on this topic -

The Ignorant Schoolmaster

Artwork & screen prints created by students during the riots of 1968

The school of the damned was established in London in 2013 by students and runs on all of the ideologies of Jacques Ranciere.
